Jason
Mather, tuba
Jason
is a Colorado native who
began his study of the tuba at the age of twelve. He studied
with
Jack Robinson at the University of Northern Colorado and with Don Harry
at the Eastman School of Music
in
Rochester, New York. Jason
won the Rocky Mountain Concerto Competition in 2003.
He currently resides in Greeley, Colorado with his wife and two dogs,
and spends his days as a mild mannered cubicle jockey. But
after
hours he rips forth from the chains that bind him and seeks to conquer
all he surveys.....that is tuba related, of course. Jason
performs in many brass groups around the Northern Colorado and Denver
area, but secretly wishes to start a rockabilly lounge act called "Sad
Sam and the Blue Vues." He is very fond of snacks,
and has
been known to perform "Effie the Elephant" for peanuts.
